Location
The main cities in western Mali are Bamako (the capital) and Kayes. Kenieba is the largest town in the mining area in Western Mali, but is undeveloped mainly due to limited infrastructure and poor access. A highway is currently being built from Dakar (the most accessible port) through Kenieba to Bamako, expected completion in 2012.
